Unlimited Space: Rakuten’s big data technology meets design

To provide a fresh and innovative look at Rakuten’s technology and big data, our chief creative officer, in collaboration with Rakuten Design Lab and Rakuten Institute of Technology, has come up with an interactive concept of “Unlimited Space”, which has been showcased at the National Art Center, Tokyo for exhibition. On entering the exhibition space, in an immediate response to our movements, words which are researched in Rakuten’s service websites across the globe are projected onto the installation walls one after another to take the form of each individual’s shape. The words are displayed in Rakuten’s original font which was developed under the supervision of its chief creative officer. In Unlimited Space, the world of Rakuten’s big data, which extends limitlessly on the other side of our daily life, is made visible to us through the connection between our body movements and Rakuten’s original font.
